The Coastal Gardener

"We LOVE our new garden! Thank you so much. We're very happy with it all"

We love to design coastal gardens whether large or small. It's an exciting, creative collaboration. We like to get to know you and your garden, to interpret your ideas
and exceed your expectations.

The gardens we design are often sculptural and quirky, full of stunning combinations of
beautiful plants, many of which we can supply from our own nursery.

The design process usually begins with a visit to see your garden. We like to find out as much as possible about how the space is used and how it might be enjoyed in the future. We love to talk about plants, planting styles and colour. Before we can develop ideas for your garden we need to carry out a site survey which includes taking lots of photographs, noting the orientation of the plot, taking soil samples, assessing the condition of boundaries, measuring the site, and noting the location of trees and services.

Then we prepare a plan and some drawings as well as visuals of the plants we have in mind. Usually we wait for your approval of the outline design before drawing up a detailed planting plan. We'll give you an estimate of the cost involved to realise the plan. If there are any alterations we'll confirm costs before we start work. Last year we designed gardens for St Mary's Hospital in Newport, Sandham Gardens and Dinosaur Isle in Sandown and for clients in Bembridge and Ventnor. We work with a highly skilled team including civil engineers and landscapers who can build almost anything including retaining walls, paths, patios, raised beds and pergollas.

to check that all your plants are thriving. If you have any concerns we're only a phone call away.
